Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this learning activity, technician participants will be able to:

Serotonin Synopsis and Safety: A Review of Serotonergic Antidepressants and Their Drug Interactions  

1. List the current FDA-approved SSRIs and SNRIs, and list their indications for use

2. Compare and contrast defining characteristics of SSRIs and SNRIs

3. Identify common prescription and over-the-counter medications and herbal products that interact with SSRIs and SNRIs

4. Describe the signs and symptoms of serotonin syndrome

A Review of Geriatrics & Anticholinergic Side Effects  

1. Outline physiologic changes that affect drug metabolism as the body ages

2. Identify the major adverse effects of anticholinergic medications

3. Review common medications that have anticholinergic properties

Medical Marijuana: Clinical and Legal Considerations for Pharmacy Technicians  

1. Identify conditions legally deemed appropriate for management with medical marijuana

2. Explain relevant clinical concerns regarding medical marijuana use

3. Understand the current research environment around medical marijuana

4. Understand the legal processes governing patient procurement and use of medical marijuana

5. Differentiate between state and federal law concerning marijuana

The University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. Attendance and completion of online program evaluations and self-assessment tools at the conclusion of the program are required in order to earn credit.


REQUIREMENTS FOR CE CREDIT
A program evaluation must be completed at www.uripharmacycpd.org within 60 days of the live program date in order to receive CE credit. CE credit will be transferred to the CPE Monitor upon successful completion of the program evaluation. Transfer of CE credit should be verified at mycpemonitor.net where CE statements are available to print. Please refer to the evaluation instructions that follow for completing program evaluations and reporting CE credit.
