Objectives: 

  • Understand what constitutes a legal control prescription and be able to identify potential pitfalls in filling controlled substance prescriptions.
  • Understand the purpose of the Prescription Monitoring Program, how it can be used effectively in a retail setting, and its limitations.
  • Understand the role of retail pharmacy in the prevention of drug diversion.
  • Obtain a basic background knowledge of the different vaccines, administration, and adverse effects. 
  • Understand the role technicians have in promoting and assisting with immunizations.
  • Understand the Rhode Island laws for pharmacy administered vaccines
