Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this learning activity, pharmacist participants will be able to:
Explain the differences between organism colonization versus infection. Describe the different types of microbiology testing methods used to identify pathogens and determine antimicrobial susceptibility. State the relationship between rapid diagnostic tests and antimicrobial stewardship. Describe key concepts contained in the presidential executive order. Discuss the implications of the executive order on antimicrobial stewardship. Review clinical pearls applicable in combating antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
